What does it take to learn Japanese?
Short Answer: Determination + Motivation + Tenacity

These are handwritten pages of Kanji from about 2 month of Anki reviews. There is a total of 19 pages – written front-and-back – for a total of about 21,500 written characters.
Long Answer – DOs:
- Invest 1500-2500 hours actively studying Japanese
- Listen passively & actively to Japanese for 2000-5000 hours
- Learn how write and distinguish 2500 Kanji
- Understand 7000-10000 unique sentences in Japanese
Long Answer – DON’Ts:
- Don’t listen to people that tell you that you are wasting your time
- Don’t listen to people that tell you that you can’t learn Japanese
- Don’t listen to people that tell you that you are doing it wrong
- Don’t hit the gonja (unless you want to do 20-40% more work)
