    Migrating your stories from Reviewing the Kanji to Anki is a fairly simple process.

    EXPORTING YOUR STORIES
    STEP 1: Log in to Reviewing the Kanji
    STEP 2: Select: Study>All my stories>Export to CSV
    STEP 3a: Saving for MS Excel

    • Open with Notepad
    • File>Save As
    • set the encoding to Unicode (UTF-8)
    • save as “my_stories.txt” (not .csv)

    STEP 3b: Saving for other spreadsheet programs (OpenOffice, Google)

    • Save “my_stories.csv”

    STEP 4: Importing into a spreadsheet program

    • Import into your spreadsheet program
    • Select Unicode (UTF-8)
    • Select > (Delimited/Fields) > Separated by Comma > Import/Finish

    FORMATTING YOUR EXPORTED STORIES FOR ANKI
    If you are using Anki’s default Japanese Model then you have only 4 Fields to work with.

    Field 1 Expression Column 1 Keyword
    Field 2 Meaning Column 2 Kanji
    Field 3 Reading Column 3 Your Story
    Field 4 Tag (Default) Column 4 Kanji, RtK1, etc

    Format the columns of your spreadsheet by following the example above.

    If you want to include other fields (ie. chapter, reading)

    IMPORT YOUR STORIES INTO ANKI
    STEP 1: Select & Copy the Rows & Columns that you want to export.

    • Do NOT select extra Rows/Columns/Cells (ie. headers)

    STEP 2: Open Notepad > Paste > Save As: Select Encoding: UTF-8
    STEP 3: In Anki

    • File > Import > Select File > Open > Select a Model > Import
